inhalant siphon too wide

i'm assuming this is a sign of stress, as the maxima has been in my tank for less than 36 hours. if the inhalant siphon remains to be too wide, is this a sign of lack of iodine? (someone tipped me that it was after seeing the clam)

I haven't heard the iodine thing before. I am one of those that don't like to see gaping in maxima or crocea. Could just be that it's still stressed from adjusting to a new system. 36 hours is still pretty early.

I have 6 clams in my tank. When I got the last 4, two were gaping. About 5 weeks later only one is and not as bad. None look stressed in any other way and all are growing. I will admit that the one that is still gaping is growing the least. I feel that if conditions are good they can recover. If iodine were needed I think all my clams would be gaping.

From what I can see the gills don't look damaged. I would not freak just yet. Give it some time and do not start moving it every few days. Leave it alone.

The center of the mantle looks a bit bleached, so I wonder if its recovering a bit. I wouldnt worry, though, it'll recover.

yeah I noticed the center has lost some color, Does anyone here know why?

its not uncommon for Maximas to be on the clear side in the central mantle. i have some with even color and some that are more clear. i dont know why this is but they haven't changed
