initial calcium level in tank

I'm getting some pickling lime and a Calcium test kit in a couple of weeks from someone who went to the states, however I was wondering, I saw a real nice candy coral in the store, and corals are not particularly abundant in stores here, would it be OK if I bought it now? Does normal saltwater have SOME useful calcium? I'm currently not keeping any other calcium requiering organisms in my tank. I don't want to risk the coral, so I don't mind waiting a while for a nice one to come-by again, but if it will be OK, I'd like to buy it while it's available.

You can pretty much assume (of course there is some variability) that the normal saltwater will have everything in the correct levels for corals. Go get her.

Obviously being able to test the calcuim levels and your KH/Alk levels would be ideal.

However, candy cane corals are very hardy and unlikely that low calcium levels alone would cause to die in a relatively short timeframe.
