Guys/Gals,

My next purchase is the 28g Cube

Does anyone have this one? I would like to get some inputs on it. I plan to use it for Seahorses and frags. I will have some permanent corals in it for eye candy but thats about it. I love that it is all inclusive and the lighting seems to be more than enough. 499 for tank and stand isnt bad.

Are there any of these local? I will have to pay 80 for shippeing so if i can buy locally for less that 580, then i will.

Any inputs you could provide would be great. Thanks in advance!

Paul

they had them at exotic last weekend.

i wasnt' to crazy about the back part being open. for the money you might want to consider a 25g cadlights www.cadlights.com

Hi Paul,

I have the JBJ 28G. Over all I like the tank. The lighting is good, I like the dual wave action. The area that need improvement are the skimmer. It is attached in a flimsy manner, and when the cup gets full, or starts to get full, the weight of the skimmate sometimes causes the skimmer to sink from its adjusted position, and then everything flows back into the tank. Consequently, I am looking at alternative skimmer solutions. Also, the position of the skimmer is such that it has to be removed every time you want to open the lid (a hassle).

The other thing you may want to consider when you get this tank is a chiller depending on the temp you keep the tank, and how hot you keep your house in the summer months. I ended up getting a chiller as it rose above 83 degrees even though the house temp was 78 (this after 8 hours of being on).

Otherwise, I like the tank, the look, and the light seems quite adequate.

Hope this helps,

Michael

Thanks for the great inputs guys. I was wandering...if heat is a concern, what would be the downfall/benefit of going with a 70W ballast instead of a 150W. Im sure it would produce less heat but would it be efficient enuff for corals? Any follow up to this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Paul,

I can't honestly address the issue of going with 70W, I just don't have enough experience to answer that one. I guess it would depend, on what you want to put in the tank. The 150 is quite intense and is supposed to be good enough for SPS (haven't any SPS in the tank yet so I can't say).

I actually did the 18W Actinic Mod that is offered by nanotuners which works great. I have it set up with a Neptune Aquacontroller and now have a it run with a complete sunrise, day, sunset, and moonphase it's great!

As of today, I mod'd the tank so that I have an AquaC remora Skimmer on it. The only problem I am experiencing is micro-bubbles, but not too bad. Hopefully with some more tweaking and settling-in they will dissipate.

Regards,

Michael
