input/output for PCX40?

Ok, so I'm setting up a closed loop and I have mounted my pump. Unfortunately, I mounted it before I looked to see which was the output and which was the input. Because of the way I had to mount the pump I can't actually see the back end of the pump (so, it was not the slickest move). It was a real pain in the butt to get in the spot I have it and I'm trying to save myself having to take it back out. I am guessing that the nozzle that comes out the top is the input and the nozzle that comes out the back of the pump is the output. This is my first external pump, so I've never had to worry about it before.

Thanks in advance

DM, YOu are incorrect. I have a pcx 40. the one on the end is the "in" and the one on the top is the "out". I do hope you installed ball valves and unions as close to the pump as possible to make it easy to get out....

I know you have probally already glued everything together and all that, but you may want to make sure you can get it out without too much fuss for semi annual cleanings. If you havent glued everything as of yet, be sure to use PLENTY of glue. I have had a few seepers in mine and have had to take it out and add more glue around the joints. I do recomend the glue that is dark blue as opposed to the clear. it performs better under corrosion and makes it easy to see that you have it glued properly. I learned all these lessons the hard way and have had to redo mine several times to get it right. one last thing, be sure NOT to be conservative with the teflon tape on any threaded connections. with the suction this pump has, it will cause seepers and a tank full of micro bubbles.

Thanks for the info and the input. I do have a couple of unions installed and the pump is in a place where a little water coming out when I do maintenance isn't going to cause any damage or problems. The PVC is glued already as a number of the parts of the CL were already put together. On the up side, I know that those parts are tested and should, in theory, still be holding up fine.
