Inside of a Magfloat?

I've been in the hobby a while, and I've had older algae cleaning magnets go bad on me. Somehow saltwater breaches the outer casing and rusts the magnet inside, resulting in a bigger magnet that then ruptures the case. I now have 4 Magfloats and one Tunze that I have yet to have any problems with. With regard to impellers, I've had the same problem with one brand (which I shall not mention by name). Impellers have expanded and I've been unable to remove them from the pump to replace them.

The question was already answered.

heh, ok i will tell. 2 nickel coated neodymium magnets glued to a metal bar glued to the mag float. they are not sealed, so if your mag float cracked the saltwater can get to it.

What's inside of a Magfloat?

You know, when you really think about it, that is a darned good question. Somebody has had to already cut one open to satisfy their curiosity. C'mon, fess up.

How do we really know that BrassMonkey knows what's inside. He could have said there were two big black magnets in there. (jk BrassMonkey)

I think I saw a broken one a my LFS a long time ago and all I could see was Styrofoam . But it wasn't broken all the way open.

hope that helps
