This is a bit off topic, but I use IO personally, but a guy at AC told me that if you use Reef Crystals for your water changes instead, it already has alot of the additives in the salt, so he said he wasn't doing any other dosing, just twice a month water changes with Reef Crystals. Thoughts?

It works for some people. It really depends on how much calcium your tank needs. IO mixes a little low in calcium, but this is remedied with a little DOW Flake.

Technically, you can probably run any tank very well on water changes... you just may have to do them every day or every two days if your calcium/alk/mag demands are high, so its much cheaper to do two-part dosing or something similar.

I looked into it and if the biggest difference is the Calcium I figured it is real cheap to just add my 2 part to get it to where I want rather then spend $$ on the salt. The main thing is to test your water after you mix it and change what you want before you add it to your system.

that why you should check ph/temp/cal/alk.with evrey new salt mix...that you use. i dont see why not you got lotes of money in your tank.there been times found a bad batch.with that said

I'm going to the Critter Friday or Saturday, I'll check then, still not sure of what date he will order. I'll find out the details this weekend.

OK salt has been ordered and will be at the Critter thursday next week, if you need an early pick up, and at the Frag Swap on Saturday.

The cost is $34 a box and each box will make 200 gallons of salt water Thanks everyone..
