Instructions Error?

Hi Roger,

I believe there is an error in the manual for the holding device extension (3000.26). If you look at the picture of the page you can see I added the letters A and B to it.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't part A the wrong part? Shouldn't there be another part B in its place instead of A. I say this because part A doesn't have two holes, its not tapped and there are no more nuts that fit those screws. What do you think?

Are we supposed to used two screws for this? I'm mounting 6100's and in the 6100 manual it says to use two. But when you use two it shortens the pieces and has less area actually holding the tank. What do you think?

You want to use two. Thanks for pointing that out. The concept is just like a wood clamp and the two screws give a much stronger hold.

Thanks Roger, just one more question. I'm having a problem with the 6100's swiveling, they won't stay put. What am I doing wrong? The two new black ones I got came with the 6200 mount but without the screw for them, just the teeth.

Hey Roger,
In addition to the previous question I have another . I have a 120g 4'*2'*2' tank with 2 sides showing (front and right). I would like to have both streams on the left side because I can hide them easily there and noise. What are some good ways to mount them? If I put both of them on the left, will the right side still get a lot of flow or will the stream die off? I also have the multicontroller and I was wondering what setting you recommend using. Thanks.

In general the teeth alone should hold the pump if they are firmly meshed together. The screw only comes with the 6200, the mounts are identical except the 6200 mount is threaded to take the screw.

Boy, two 6100's in a 120 is going to be a heck of alot. I would have recommended the 6000's. I would run them at low power and use interval 1 so only one pump is running at a time.

So what should I do about my 6100 swiveling? One of them seems to be doing better but the other keeps swinging to one side.

And so how would you mount them if I put them both on the left side?

The best would be to tap the piece and use a screw to attach the pieces. I can send you a set that would solve this problem if you PM me an address. I would put one in each corner aimed straight across the length of the tank.

That makes sense. I was thinking about having them both in the back corner and aiming on across the back and one at the front glass but your way seems better.

My plan is to make a tiered rock structure on the left side and have low islands in the middle and on the right side. I figure it will be easy to hide the streams in the rock structure. Should I worry about the flow on the right side or do you think it will still be very strong when it gets there?

I would just be sure they are not so hidden you can't get to them. Keep in mind this is like owning a Porsche, great car but if you don't maintain it you will lose them. They need to be cleaned at least every 6 months and preferably every 3.

what happens if I turn the power knob on the driver down to say 50% and then use the multicontroller? Does this mean that the pulse will be going from 30-100% of the already 50% flow?

no, the controller overrides the driver settings, it is an either or situation. If the pumps are too big you can buy or trade someone for the smaller 6000 transformers and switch them to 6000 Streams this way.

Are there any negative effects to running them at low power constantly? Just curious because you advocate using the 6000's in tanks my size.

No, it is just that the 6000 would work better in a smaller tank.
