Insurance on tank(s)?

I got wacked by the recent storm here in spfld. I lost about half my livestock fw and sw. My insurance adjuster said "if the tornado would have knocked your tanks over we would have paid for the tanks and equipment but not the livestock. No animals are covered. period"

My American Family guy said no to the contents, yes to the equipment and could not offer me coverage for contents. Also if say the tank seam blows out, they would not necessarily cover water damage to rest of the house. If anybody has a company/agent name that offers coverage please post a phone #.

My brother is an agent and deals with several different companies, he is looking into this now and if he comes up with something I will post he name and number here.

Maybe jgleach can add something here.
I seem to recall that when his tank bellied up due to a fan problem, the corals were covered under "home decoration" rather than "animals".

Alrighty then....this statement is true....my incident was somewhat unique. My tank overheated when my cooling fan in the canopy fell off and fell into the tank. This tripped the GFCI that it and the main pump in the sump were powered from, but not the lighting. I just happened to be out of town at the time and when I got home, the tank temp was somewhere in the mid 90's....nearly all of my corals perished, but the fish lived....and the sump overflowed because I had the auto make up on a timer, not on a float switch. Anyhow....I had to do a lot of research....and I had to choose my words carefully. First off, had the tank malfunctioned, nothing would have been covered. This disaster was caused by a household appliance (the fan). I also did quite a bit of research regarding copper since the fan motor sat in the tank for up to a week. I had my tank water analyzed and it showed some small amount of copper...I don't remember how much. The adjustor quickly made mention that my policy did not cover "pets", to which I stated that the pets were still alive (the fish), but the "coral decorations" were "ruined" due to the copper. I think what finally swayed him was that I showed him price quotes (online) for decorative coral skeletons that were priced higher than I was claiming the live corals to be. My arguement was that even dead, they were still decoration and the copper had caused them to be unfit to put into an aquarium. After all was said and done.....and a lot of work and research on my part, the insurance company covered the cost of the corals, LR, and slight water damage to my home. The funny part of the story was that they depreciated the corals based on how long I estimated I had them.....
Now, having said all that....had ANY of the circumstances been different, or had I not done my homework, I suspect that this incident would not have been covered.

So I am looking into insuring that tank now and wanted to know if anyone else has found legitamate insurance for their tanks? According to my agent I am covered on an overflow/flooding by my liability insurance but otherwise nothing else is covered.

Loyds of London covers Mic Jaggers voice, and some modle's legs. They will cover your tank for sure.
