Interceptor and Urchins

Anyone out there have problems killing their Urchins after treating for RB's. I have 2 tuxedo urchins and I realize that they are not crustaceans, but I am a little curious about possible effects on them.

None of the threads to my knowledge ever discuss this.

Thanks;)

they will be fine....i have finished up my 3 treatments and my black long spine is fine

Just for completeness sake, I treated a system with 2 tuxedo urchins. I left the interceptor in the tank for about 36 hours before doing a water change and the urchins are more than fine.

I have not used Interceptor, but most sources state that it does not discriminate between killing red bugs and other inhabitants like shrimp, amphipods, copepods, and crabs. Long-term ramifications still not known yet.

My PE has never really been an issue. I didn't want them to affect a valida colony that I have. I used the standard dose. I got caught up in some other things and wasn't about to start a water change at 1045 at night and stay up until after 1am. I went to bed and changed the water when I got home from work on Monday.

The dose was the recommended dose BTW.

In the past, my pods have come back, so why wouldn't the RB's?

Of course Milbemycin affects arthropods; thats the mechanism of action of the medication. Maybe the interceptor is hepatotoxic for our fish? Who knows at this time. If we get a bunch of fish swimming with acites, I guess we will know in the future. What I am certain of is that it won't kill your urchins:D !

Nathan; are you going to MACNA?

Come back to Texas
It's just not the same since you went away
Before you lose your accent
And forget all about the Lonestar State
There's a seat for you at the rodeo
Besides the Mexican food sucks north of here anyway

Naw,, I have a confrence in Orlando in mid october im going to..

I did just pick up some interceptor from the vet up the street though.. :) printed bornemans document out and took up there.. Come to find out the vet is a reef keeper to and he knew what i was going through

So now i will run a Q tank for corals and going to cycle them all through a 8-12 hour treatment before I prep my new tank.....

I miss a few things about texas.. I'll admit that.. and I neva had yal's accent ! and im not eating mexican food much these days,LOL..:)
