Interceptor. For small dogs?

At one time a while back I bought the wrong size interceptor for treating my tank. I bought the interceptor for small dogs. I have yet to even open up the boxes but as I was treating my tank yesterday curiosity kicked in. I pulled out one of the boxes and read the front of the box. Then I compared it to the Interceptor for large dogs (which we all use for treating our reefs).

I was rather amazed to see that the Interceptor for small dogs has exactly 1/10 of the active ingredient (milbemycin oxime) of the pills for large dogs.

Now, if one pill of the large dog interceptor will treat up to 380 gallons it seems reasonable to believe that the pills for small dogs would treat up to 38 gallons. To me that would make it ideal for smaller reefs or for dipping new additions.

It has been some time since I bought the small dog pills but if I remember correctly they were nearly half of the price!! If my assumption holds true we could get the small dog pills and avoid having to cut and measure the large dog pills and save some coin at the same time.

All thoughts on this are welcome and encouraged.

So what do you all think or am I way behind the times?

considering most people do more than one treatment (usually 3), it seems easier to just buy a single large dog interceptor pill. the small one would work for like a 10-12 gallon tank, but even a 38 gallon tank would need 3 pills. for the 3 seperate treatments.

I've always used the small dog pills.

For treating a tank, it might make sense to use the bigger pills, but I always QT and treat my coral purchases before they go in. With just 2-3g of water at a time, I use 1/2 a small dog pill for an overnight dip/bath.
