Was wondering if anyone knew anything what hybridizes with a multicolor? 1st pic. What is the second hybrid? Lastly where do flames morphs like the 3rd pic collected? Thanks, T

Not sure about the first one but the second one looks like a regular Koran. The Flame is awesome....never seen one like that.

I doubt any of these are hybrids.

The first one looks like a multicolor.

The second one looks like a juvenile blueface angel.

The last one looks is a flame angel variant that doesn't have any black pigmentation. These are rare but they do exist.

The Pomacanthus definately looks like a Koran cross to me, maybe an annularis mix by the shape of the fish. That is an awesome looking flame morph/cross.

Like I said on the other thread, I am almost positive that is a coral beauty x multicolor hybrid. I believe someone in Japan is keeping one of those with a personatus in a very nice tank that has been displayed on here before.

The second seems like a Koran to me... Is there something to indicate it might be something other than a Koran, like a high price or something?

Also that flame is just lacking pigment, no hybrid. The flames from the Marquesas lack all black except for one spot, but they don't show lightened areas where the black should be, like this fish.

The white striping does not look like a typical Koran, not nearly as curved and rounded and the tail color and pattern is all wrong, much paler. I've seen a million Korans and there is something about this one that isn't right. Might be a unique color morph but it does look very different.

IDK - If somebody just showed me the second picture with no preface, I'd just say its a koran. I would think that the clear/white tail of an annularis would stand out more if it was a cross. You can sort of see the fish's lateral line standing out, like its a bit emaciated. That could indicate that the fish has been captive for awhile - and since that can cause all sorts of coloration changes, kind of hard to say if there is really anything different there from just a regular Koran.

I have no idea about the other two fish....

Well unfortunately I do not read Japanese, but from what I can read it states it is a hybrid, the koran in question. Blue Harbor.jp. When I first looked at it I said Koran and then the more I look at it the more I am confused.......

The multicolor is probably changed due to high lighting, the white pigmentation begins to darken leaving an end result of a fish thet closer resembles Nahacky's centropyge. There are some that look like that in Kyoshi Endoh's book "Angelfishes of the world"

None of the multicolors I have seen or seen pics of have had any dark pigment on the caudal fin like this one. And if you are looking at Kiyoshi Endoh's book then look at the multicolor page, then look on the opposite page where the C. bispinosa is, then look in the far right corner, there is a coral beauty that resembles this fish it even has the lighter tail, but it is lacking the blue crown.

I think it is a coral beauty multicolor hybrid, I'll leave it at that since will never know for sure.

Hey R.W., what kind of fish is that on your avatar? Beautiful?

Oh and that is a Chaetodon meyeri very hard to take care of and requires a constant diet of hard corals.

That is weird they say it is a hybrid, I would think the striping would be more off, but if it is indeed a hybrid I have no idea.
