Forgive me if this is a know fact.

I run a large mesh style filter sock that clogs every week or so. I regularly change it out as I'm sure many of you are familiar with this. To my surprise the last few weeks it has not been clogging. I took it out with the thought of, ok its ripped, but it wasn't. A few weeks ago I received a pod pack free from reefs2go with an order I placed. I expected little copepods but I received what I would think of as amphipods because of their large size. Think crawl around on your hand and tickle you size(creeped me out). Cope/amphi or whatever they were big. A large number were living in my sock and the only thing I can think of is they are keeping the sock cleaner so it isn't clogging.

If they are anything like the tisbe, that doesn't surprise me. That's awesome, eating the detritus and making coral food. Feed them the brown iso to make them really happy! If you put some filter sock like material in your sump that can be a continuous pod habitat that wont get washed out. Pm me if you need something like it. Filter floss, or blue filter pad also works well
