There's nothing more to say than what was said before.
Orbital has not accused AquaIllumination of patent infringement and we understand that they are not trying to use the patent to put people out of business.
We won't be commenting on the "merits of patent #7,473,008" on ReefCentral.
The AquaIllumination product, unlike the PFO Solaris, has proven to require very little warranty support in the two years of user operation.
The AquaIllumination product line is continually being developed, with new products to be released in the months to come.
Bottom line: The AquaIllumination product, its distributor, and dealers continue to sell and support the product.
To discuss this further, please email ReefGeek or AquaIllumination Support.
Per your suggestion, I started a thread on the ReefGeek forum, entitled "Future of Aquaillumination†and posed some questions to Greg Morgan. Like you, Greg Morgan of Reef Geek sidestepped the questions and ominously stated that “not all is what it seems.â€Â
My questions were:
(1) How does Aquaillumination avoid infringing on Orbitec’s patent?
(2) Do Aquaillumination, C2 Development, or their affiliates have permission or license from Orbitec or its affiliates to produce aquarium LED lighting fixtures?
(3) Where can I find C2 Development’s SEC filings where patents, licenses, and royalties must be disclosed?
Greg Morgan’s responses were:
(1) Sorry, cannot comment
(2) Sorry, cannot comment
(3) C2 Development is not a publicly traded company.
I also asked if Aquaillumination, C2 Development or their affiliates pay royalties or license fees to Orbitec or its affiliates. When I looked for an answer this morning, the thread had been deleted without explanation.
Nevertheless, I believe the responses and the deletion of the thread tell us that Orbitec and Aquaillumination are closer than they seem.
