my tank knowledge isn't that great. but i was at this restuarant over the weekend, and they had a really nice tank. what i found interesting, is that the tank had two overflow BOXES at the top of the tank. but they weren't normal looking overflows where it goes to the bottom. they were like two cubes and they never went to the bottom of the tank, visibly. i guess the plumbing was above the tank.

i dunno if that makes sense. but if it does, does anyone else do their overflows like this?

u can kinda see the pic on this page. 3rd pic.

yes, i guess u can say it was like that. except that it was in the middle of the tank and hanging onto nothing.

but that pic goes all the way from top to bottom of tank. this tank never goes to the bottom. it's just a cube box. i guess the plumbing is all thru the top.

can u see it in that one pic on the website?

From what I can see it looks like there might be a pipe that is going down that is hidden by the rockwork. Would kinda make sense since it seems like the rock is all around the center and hiding something maybe?

That's what I'm using on my 180 gallon reef...a 20" x 7" x 4" overflow, with two 2" bulkheads drilled through the back of the tank. I end up having much more room towards the bottom of the tank for live rock since you don't have the full length columns. Check out glass-holes.com or 4coral.com. They sell those overflow boxes.

R2nj, the link works fine when i click on it. maybe you can try it again.

travis, no pipe goes down into the rock. u can only see one box in the pic, but there are two boxes in the tank.

also, the pumps that bring the water into the tank from the sump were coming out of this cube too. not sure if that info helps.
