internet pricematching

Chris the owner of the Critter has always been good to me about price matching. I do not know if it is an official policy or not. I also factor in a little reality and do not try for super low prices. I am willing to pay a bit more for local service... has saved me already a few times when my light started having issues. He replaced the bulbs without hesitation. Did not need to call some company or worry about shipping etc...

Hahaha..not really, but they will make you a deal if your buying a few things of value.

Fins was pretty clear about charging more. Last meet William talked to this very subject to the group and made sure to "remind" us of the things the LFS can do that the cheaper Inet retailers can't. Many times the online guys order larger lots and get pricing the LFS just can't compete with. I don;t mind paying a little more, and prefer to see my livestock before I purchase a specimen.

Yep, the fact that they don't order in the same sizes makes a big difference, and they are able to let you see the fish beforehand, often have to house them longer, etc, but it's nice to know a fish is eating before you buy it. I think it's almost always worth it to pay the local prices for fish.

Personally, I've never bought fish offline. Not to say I won't, but if an LFS can get in what I'm looking for, I'd much rather go that route and its usually much cheaper by the time you factor in shipping, anyway.

Clean up crew, on the other hand, is a totally different story. :)

I prefer to buy corals and fish locally (if the prices are reasonable). Equipment, cleanup crews, etc.... online, 100%.

I've bought a few of my fish online years ago. I still have my nice healthy Naso Tang. Online or in store, depends how well you trust either one.....

when it comes to my fish stuff...fish and corals at the LFS...but equipment online......but when it comes to my frogs.....frogs online and supplies from the LFS

FYI, Just bought a trio of Bartlett's Anthias from the Critter. Checked online at the Diver's Den and with shipping, the Critter was a better price. That with the knowledge they are a short trip away makes it a no-brainier for me. I know I could probably find cheaper, but I'll stick with our LFS.
