Interruptus Angelfish? Should I or Shouldn't I?

she was kindly offered to me last week but she is 5 inches, too big for me...but a killer and beautiful fish that comes from kk's office tank (as does 1 of mine) and what is better than that......somebody should grab her quickly...

I was referring to a Bandit and not Interrupta...

Wow two beautiful angels, I assume the goldflake will be available to dd soon.. two great opportunities for someone in search to put their collection over the top. The one in that tank seems as small as yours, missing the black trim

the bandit will be avail soon and is 5 inches...the interrupta will also be avail and looks around 2 inches...

My two Interrupta fought for a bit when they were the same size, so I separated them. I'm reintroducing them next month as one is very noticeably larger than the other. Very shy (akin to my multibars) when first introduced, but very active there after. My big male Potters chases them every now and then but nothing major comes of it. Also, as temperature is widely debated with these fish, I keep the tank between 78-80*F. Good luck if you get one ... really a neat and active fish.

The Juv. Goldflake sounds very interesting. I would have loved to see that fish when it first arrived there because they said on fb it was the size of a nickel! Anyways good luck again on the interrupta, I'm going to bet that the one on dd won't be near the price you listed

Hi all

I am considering purchasing a Interruptus Angelfish. I am redoing my current setup and would like to keep only 1 or 2 really exotic fish. I have been doing some research on the Interruptus and it seems to be one of the bigger Centropyge angels. I can pick one up between $800 - $ 1000.

Can someone share some of the experiences of there Interruptus and also some pics if possible?

Thanx

Normally for me, most of the expensive fish in the hobby are not terribly attractive (JMO). My tank is full of very common fish, but they are beautiful. That said, I think the interruptus angel is one of those exceptions.... absolutely gorgeous, and expensive. If you have opportunity, and means, then I say yes, without hesitation.

not sure about a nickel just a bit bigger...but def smaller than a quarter...

SDguy I know what you mean. Certain fish are extremely heavy priced yet they are not so colourful or attractive. Personally and logically a yellow tang of $ 10 - $ 20 is alot more beautiful than that of a black tang of $ 250 - $ 400. I do understand the rarity factor which makes it so expensive.

jaa1456, Ive got a guy in Hawaii who hooks me up.

Nonimmigrant, How many angels do you have? I see from your post you got multibars, potters and interruptus. How are they all doing? Goldflakes are lovely but rarely can I find them in that size.

For a lot of fish you are right, but not so much with the angels, bandits, interruptus, clarions, and masked. All rare and expensive and IMO absolutely beautiful.

Angels yes are beautiful all of them clarions, interruptus, bandits, colini, masked, venustus, multibar, flames, narcosis, conspics, peppermints, goldflakes, regals & potters are all beautiful!

Wrasse fish which I dont like are the deep sea wrasse, colors are there but they dont appeal to me.

Tangs like black, achilles, chevron are priced fairly high but there colours and beauty doesnt really show.

As we know though its not only about the fish looks but also how easy it is to get them. If the Peppermint Angel was grey and white it would still cost $ 20,000 as its about the time, depth and risk of getting them that makes them so expensive.

Got to disagree about the Achilles, I find them striking. The chevron IMO as a juvi is beautiful then it turns dull

My love for the bandit is because it adds such a different colour to most tanks, not too mention I really like the black line going across the eyes.

No need to defend it :) There is an entire online article stating how ugly my Chelmon muelleri is.... ::uhoh3:

Hook me up lol, and I will take my Black tang any day of the week over a yellow tang or any other tang for that matter. Beauty is in the eye of the holder, I dislike certain fish that others love and vice versa.

As for Clarions, I think Passer angels look much better. I had a Clarion years ago and I ended up trading it for a Queen, emperor and some cash. The latter two appeal to me better then the Clarion as well.

Lol. You also have a black tang? I see that they are not too rare, apparently I have been told that they are collected quite frequently in the Xmas Islands. The problem is that they are found fully grown and not the small to medium most people want.

Same thing with Gems by us, they are frequently available but the ones that are swimming around are massive!

Clarions are beautiful! I think a Queen and Passer are beautiful as well but a Clarion stands out!!!

agree, imo there is no comparing a clarion to a passer or queen, esp as babies and juvis...

They are amazing. The thing that makes me excited is thanks to the likes of Richard Pyle, Rufus Kimura, Forrest Young, Ron Tubbs and Chip Boyle we are continuing to see more and more beautiful fish. I cant wait till the next exotic and beautiful angel is collected.

I got my BT at the size of a nickel, when I got mine there were actually 9 avaliable at that size in my area. As for the Gem, there was one here locally about the size of a silver dollar and four more just under 2"s, they all sold very quickly except for the smallest one. The Lfs had a 40% off sale and the Gem sold for 1500, if I would have known I would have definitely scooped it up. Also like I said beauty is in the eye of the holder, I think Clairons are pretty lame looking.
