well, i was browsing through the forums the other day when i came across this and figured it was right up my ally, so, i just wanted to introduce my self.
My name is mike, 22yrs old, and i live in pembroke pines. i go to school full-time at fiu, and work part time as the bull-tender at tequila ranch.
i set up my first sw tank about 2 weeks ago, and thanks to the wonderful members of this forum, it is going great. i have an RSM, and aside for the ussual problems (bubbles from the skimmer still!!!) i am very pleased with it. its only been up for about 13 days now, so all i got going is around 35lbs of LS, 45lbs of fiji LR, 10 turbo snails and about 10 blue-legged hermit crabs.
earlier this week i started getting my 1st algae bloom and was pretty excited (all brown on glass, rock, and sand) with patches of green here and there. did my first water change today, along with my first batch of tests here are the results:
PH: 8.2
ALK: 2.8
salinity: 1.0235
Nitrite: .08
Nitrate: 5.0
ammonia: 0.10
calcium: 420
over all pretty pleased, although i know some of these #'s are a bit on the high side. not bad for 2 weeks in though.
anyways, it will be great getting to know you all, and i thank you in advance for what i am sure will be great advice and conversation
