Inverts Bringing Ich/Marine Velvet in Tank - Best Precarionary measures?

Hello All - I apologize for being so high maintenance however really do appreciate everyone's help and insights. I am a week away from rock being fully cured and getting the tank filled and running.

I have read some posts about snails and crabs bringing ich and marine velvet. I know inverts can't handle the treatments for those issues however is there anything I can do besides QTing them for a month? Should I brush their shells and use something like peroxide on the shells and then rinse them in saltwater immediately before putting them in?

I know that ich has about a 30 day cycle where if not host is found it will die off. Is Marine Velvet similar or once present in a tank it will live until killed off by meds?

I quarantine inverts (including corals) in a dedicated invert tank for 72 days. Velvet dies off after 6 weeks without a fish host (same for brook). Ich requires 72 days.

If you want to be absolutely sure, QT inverts for 3 months. At least a minimum of 72 days. About a year ago I introduced ich via an invert clean up crew. Lost half my fish to ich. All is well now since my tank went fallow and I got my current fish cured, but from now on I will quarantine anything wet before it goes into my tank.

Thanks everyone. Since I am just starting up a new tank would it be ok to put the cleanup crew and corals in and then wait 72 days before adding fish and then QT after that?

That would work for fish disease but not help with other pests like aptasia, bubble algae, bryopsis etc... Some are not hard to get rid of if they get in the DT tank, other are harder.

I recommend the QT outside the DT. If you do decide to take a chance, just realize that if anything gets in the tank make sure you cure it before adding more livestock. It will leave you more options to fix the problem.
