Iodine addition in zoa tanks? Coincidence?

Been Reefin'
Ok so Over the past month or so all my zoa frags have slowly closed a couple polyps. All others have looked ok, but a few polyps on all frags have closed except for my fruit loop frag.

Anyways I have a low nutrient barebottom tank, filter socks on the overflow, skimmer rate for 2.5x my total volume, etc. Yesterday I tested and nitrate 0, phos .05, kh 7.7, ca 330. I then changed a little water. The polyps just acted the same throughout the day. This morning I went ahead and put a couple capfuls of kent tech-I in the tank. When I got home from church about 1 hour ago the lights are on and pretty much every polyp is open!

Can iodine do this?

All sps, lps, etc look fine. I change 10g per week with reef crystals, run carbon, and a little gfo. Total water volume about 105g.

Not sure but I've read and drop some iodine in periodically. Supposedly it's good for them but too much will crash your tank.

Yes, it can. It did for you, right? :D
I would suggest to remove the gfo. You probably don't need that anyway.
Carbon is good, in small quantities, as needed.
Keep nutrients low and a consistent/stable maintenance schedule/parameters.
Make sure your lights are good for the long term.
Remove detritus when doing water changes.
You can bring your Ca a little higher, like 380/420, but make sure alk is kept at about 7 or 8 min.
Keep dosing small quantities of the Kent Tech-I daily.
That's better than twice or 3 times a week.
Good luck!

Grandis.
