IPhone camera question.

I have wondered this for awhile now and was hoping one of you gurus could explain.

My IPhones camera, while only 2 megapixels, takes pictures that look very close to the colors I see with my eyes.
While other cameras, such as the Nikon Coolpix look absolutely nothing like it.

Why is that?

Thanks,
Sean

I'll give this a shot....

I think this is due to how the camera determines white balance. The Iphone probably has only one setting for determining white balance, which is probably fairly neutral. While the coolpix has many white balance settings for different situations, giving you more flexibility what white balance you want to shoot in. The coolpix is better in terms that it allows you a range of options but you as the user have to help in determining what the best setting is. If you set it to "auto" then it will try to determine as best as it can, but may not be what you expect which is why it doesn't come out like you think it should.

Steve Wozniak and Jobs created a mega company which revolutionized the way we see the world. To say a "coolpix", "powershot", or "cybershot" is a better camera than an iPhone is not fair. Firs off the term "coolpix" to me means "Nikon's worst". The same goes for Canon, Sony, and everyone else.

Now how can Nikon's worst current camera (a coolpix) possibly stack up to the might and absolute power that is Apple?! It can't. The iPhone actually has a very nice camera. I should know, we have two iPhones and an iPod touch in my household.
