iPhone / iPad / Android Reef Apps

Search ghl on your iPhone... There's an app there. Forget name. Kinda $$$ but it's pretty good from what I hear.

It's ok, could be be fantastic, graphics are better connectivity is not, it's $22 and looks better on the iphone than the ipad.

I have both profilux and the apex using the iphone apps for both. Aquanotes for free is a fabulous deal, much more functionality than most are aware of, it's just not entirely intuitive.

Anyone here use the Ireef app for there rke? Is it worth getting the net module?

I have it... It is nice to be able to see the params on your tank when away. It does not allow you to control anything, this just reads the RSS feed that the RKE produces.

The net module does allow for email when alarms are hit.

I am VERY disappointed with the level of software control available through handheld devices from DA. They did just come out with their new MyReef software, but still not handheld support.

Just saw this thread. A little late but I've been using the aquanotes app on my iphone for quite a while and I really can't see living without it. It works very well and I never touch the actual AC3. The other day I had problems with my internet and I needed to do a water change, I thought to myself, seriously, "how the hell am I going to turn stuff on and off to do the water change", I actually had to touch the controller. Silly.

This may sound silly... is the aquanotes app of any use if you don't have the controller? I'd like something to use for logging info on parameters, media change reminders, etc.

can someone clarify for me please? I will be getting the new Droid X2 and I have the AC3 with aquanotes running. Is there an app for that?
I know Iphone has one but does droid? if I could get a link that would be great.

I actually dont know how to even use the display to turn things off!
Setup an internal and external connection in the app. That way if your internet is down you can still access it when your home. Internally its much faster anyway!

It is of zero use if you dont have the controller, When you open it it wants you to add the IP of the controller. Other than that there is nothing you can do with it.

apex and aquanotes

apex and aquanotes

i dont know how i ever got by without this app before, checking your tank from work is awesome, I find myself checking in on things a dozen times a day,it can even let you know if you have water on your floor around the tank

Ok, a little confused here:

What app to get for the Apxs and using an android based phone. Want the widget and to be able to turn stuff off & on as well as view status.

It seems many run aquanotes i think, that is the software for AC JR or ACIII right? same one for android?

I will try and take this one.
if you have an APEX system and an adroid phone, go to market place and you are going to watn the Apex App that is made by HeneryH
then you go into the settings of the app and set your prefrences.
Title
URL for the controler
user name
password
etc

then you add the widget on the home page. you do not access the display info from where you launch the app.

so hold your finger where you want it on the home page and then selext Android widgets then select if you want the tall or short one. that will dispay the widget with the stats of your tank. If you want to expand it just tap on the widget. if you have questions let me know. I did this trial and error and got it going. this is they coolest thing ever, by the way. this was one of the larger selling points to getting android over Iphone. widgets and neat!

I am running an AC Jr so I have to use the ACSerial2Web app. It works great. I am going to donate to both authors right now.
if anyone else has any questoins let me know. I will try and answer them. I know nothing about the internal workings of these. just a little experience with the use of the apps and the aqua controllers.

I am running this on a Motorola Droid X2

Thanks for the detailed explanation.
You can see all the outlets as well once in the app & turn them on & off as well right?

yes. I am telling you. it is sweet!
remember you will need to set up port forwarding and get your external IP if you have not already.
if you can check the apex from a website from out side you should be all set.
