I had to take an IQ test recently for Highschool, and scored a 123 or something like that. Just wondering If this is good or bad because the ******* councelor didnt say, and Im to un-intelligent to know ~_~

*rolls eyes* Mary, mary, mary, you dont think I would acually reveal to anyone the true depths of my superior intelect. Its because Im one of them there edumacated smert pplz. O_O anyway...thanks. A bit of advice. Remember, your unique, just like everyone else! ~_~ '

Thanks agin Mary. See you at the swap!

I found this on the web. I have seen other descriptions that break it down into "genius" and other terms but political correctness has made stuff like that taboo. Frankly I'm surprized that this one actually used the term "retarded". Nonetheless, this should give you a decent benchmark. Look around on the net and you should find plenty of other info. BTW, the cutoff for eligibility for the KC schools gifted program is 130.
132 and above Very superior
121-131 Superior
111-120 High average
89-110 Average
79-88 Low average
68-78 Slow learner
67 or below Mentally retarded

I would be in Mercer county school system,, and I dont care about "gifted programs" Its all a bunch of bull **** IMO

Yeah that is what my son said when he got to middle school.

His IQ is off the chart, but remember it doesn't mean a thing if you don't use it. At least that is what I have been telling him for years.

Shane I do have the State School Breakdown on those scores if you want to pm me your real score. Assumming that it is not 123.

You got me Mary. I toned down my true score, but Im still not telling you, because I dont want to hear another one of your "Dont-Waste-Your-Gift-By-Not-Going-To-Colledge lectures.

I'll tell you this-- my mom insisted that I be tested for the gifted program and she was met with tons of resistence. Still yet, she bullied them into doing it and I tested well above the lower limits. I see no point in posting my exact score and please don't ask. I am merely a humble reef geek here.

In any case, I spent many years in the GP and I actually had some really positive experiences. Among them were being exposed to personal computers at a time when they were in their infancy (showing my age here)-- anyone ever hear of a TRS 80??? Also, we wrote several research papers, complete with footnotes etc. (This only became valuable when I got into college).

All that said, most of the time it was a day off. Away from the rigor of the regular classroom, we were free to screw around a LOT... and we did. We were kids. Whether or not the program is worthwhile depends on your gifted teacher and your personal desire for intellectual enrichment. The latter of the two you can use on your own. That is definitely THE MOST valuable thing I got from the program...SELF EDUCATION. The kind of thing you are expected to do in college. This is also the the thing I cherish the most and engage in to this day! Of course, you don't need the GP to do this. With the internet and all the resources we have at our disposal these days-- self-education is easier than ever. That is exactly what we all do in the CVRC! Experimenting, reading, researching, and sharing our knowlege with one another.

All THAT said, you do not need to be a genius or participate in any government school generated gifted program to exercise your brain and explore your world. All you need is motivation, determination, and application. So, whatever the numbers are, YOU determine your success in life by your choices and your hard work. One of the BEST choices you can make is to get a college education. It is at the least, an insurance policy because many more doors are open to you with a degree than without. However, you and you alone, make your choices and live your life...and you also suffer the consequences of or reap the rewards of your decisions.

I.Q..... Schmi-Q!

*Glares evily at H.Crispa. * Ron would kill me if I sad anything negitive about Jason. Mary, on a scale of 1-10 how annoying am I to you?

OT: Mary did the sea hair get rid of your hair algea? as artifical control of it is my next experiment. Jus wondering. .....
On Topic: Just so everyone knows Mary picks on me just as hard in the shop with Ron and Barry. AAMOF they all gang up on poor little old me and usually beat me at my own game. The earlier comments were not a personal attack of any way, shape, form, or fashion. Just friendly annoyance. If anyones feelings got caught in the crossfire there is the Princton Planesburrow hospital over there, where Dr.House will make you feel better, but probally tick you off even more. <3<3<3's House! Anyway. For your all's amusement...a pic of me in my cloak.

Enjoy!

What test did they use?

IQ is just a measure of how likely you are to do well in a standard educational setting.

Of the 145+ people I know well, 3 ended up working in "food service". Only one is a CPA. Another just lost his job because of a drug addiction.

If you want to be a loser it is ez to do.
Don't fall into the trap of thinking you are too smart for school.

I have actually known two more over 145's they both killed themselves. They played stupid untill it came true.

Every week I have to send some college drop out to rehab for drug addiction that was golden child in school.

All too often being gifted is no gift. Life is a struggle. If you have a chance to get a leg up....DO IT Or LOSE IT.

The most common problem I see is that for Gifted kids things come easily. When they come up against difficulty they quit and get board. That is what happened to me when I went away to college. It was like a brick wall, I was not used to having to WORK at school. I had worked construction all of my life but school work was easy. SURPRISE no one was standing trying to hand me a job.

I checked into the expense of starting a pet store, Starting from scratch you need massive amounts of capital and a market big enough to support the effort. Even Cinnci. OH has only a hand full of pet shops (look in the phone book)

BTW before you say money isnt important or money cannot buy happiness, Tell me how many parties you see at the city mission.
