Is 640 gph too much?

Is 640 gph too much flow for a 17 gallon nano? I am trying to decide between the 440 pump or the 640 gph pump. I will be keeping mostly softies......

in my opinion it is way too much, maybe 350 or so would be ideal

well if ur keeping softies thats totally fine but if u wanna keep sps or something its not
i got 37 tunover rate on my 29

Easye123, I noticed you have two 24 watt t5s. I am thinking about using that as my only light source. Do you think that is enough light for softies and maybe a bubble tip anemone? Also, do you think 640 total is too much for softies?

If you have lots of live rocks in your tank then maybe you'll be fine or your tank will look like sand storm.

It's on the high side, but do you have any other filters or anything to add to total flow?


Remember, it may be high if it's only comming out of one powerful stream, but if it's broken up into multiple outlets, then it could be perfectly fine.
