is a refugium pointless?

awesome. i should also mention that my refugium will not be larger than 20g's. also, what lighting would you recomend? i was thinking PC, or could i get by with just NO?

pc is great because you can put frags in there if you need to hold them for any time. I have pc on mine

I agree. I use PC on mine. But, if you really only want to grow macro algae like chaeto for example, you can find some pretty cheap lighting from HD...there are a few threads about it on this forum.

this is why you shouldn't go with the advice you get at the lfs... a refuge in a sump can't be bad for your tank!
