is abs reef safe??

I want to use ABS elbows in my reef tank as the overflows. I heard that ABS is not safe like PVC and that's why it's only used with waste water. Anyone know from experience if there is any truth to this??

totally safe.
most hang on filters are ABS, along with bulkheads, overflows, etc..
