Is feeding essential to bring out SPS color?

Given super low nutrient and strong lighting and color, is feeding acropora essential to bring out its color?

If yes, what is important to feed for the color.

I am using ca-reactor, so I guess trace element not an issue?

Nutrients of some sort ARE necessary. The heavier you can feed your corals, and still keep the phosphates,nitrates super low, the better your corals will look. This is why most SPS tanks that dont have any fish in them often dont look as good as those that do.

The question is what is to be feed? How often?
Which products has been proven?

Cyclopleeze and oyster eggs for the corals....... various frozen and fresh foods for the fish. Both feed 1x per day...corals after lights go out for 1 hour, fish early in the day. That is how I feed my corals and fish.

I feed my corals fish poo.

I feed the fish a virety of foods, so inderectally the corals get a varity of foods, in a form they prefer over raw food.

I still not getting optimal color from my corals despite 5 400W metal halide lighting.
I am wondering what I missed.

Phophate low....... Bulbs good...... time, time, time. Try the foods I have listed.... Oh keep nitrates in check. Water quality is a must...... if keep calerpa in a fuge it will yellow your water, running ozone 1-2x's a month will make your water crystal clear.

icliao, bb? THere are a million threads on this. I think feeding a variety of foods, whatever is available, will help considerably. I had a similar problem and my tank has finally turned around by me feedin about 3-4 times as much as I had for the previous year.

Also, if you are running a low nutrient BB what is your photoperiod. Seems like you have a lot of light.
