is growth a good health indicator?

Simple enough.... If a clam is growing (adding to its shell) does that mean it's healthy for sure and there is no chance of it starving?

Growth is always a good sign. Do you have a pic of the clam??

Have you read "Giant Clams" by Daniel Knop?? Great book!!! It will tell you everything you wanted to know about Clams and more!!

Sloth.. the clams do look healthy. What type of lighting do you have them under??

Are they attach to something??

They're about 16" under a 150 watt 10K metal halide and a 55 watt PC actinic/10K combo. I feed DTs pretty heavily too.

The crocea is attached to a rock which is buried just under the sand. The maxima is constantly trying to get himself attached too, but last time he jumped off so I don't know what I'll do with him yet.

The weird thing is - I'm definitely getting more growth from the crocea than the maxima. And they're obviously both living in the same conditions.

I think your clams will be fine.. The maxima growth maybe less because it is unhappy where it is. That is probably why it hasn't attach to anything yet..
