I am currently in the process of overhauling my tank and I put my occelaris clown that I've had for around two years now in a qt tank. It's been in there for the past 3-4 weeks, and recently, it seems like he is not doing very well.
Parameters are:
NH3: 0
NO2: 0
NO3: 0
SG: 1.023
I find it odd that a quarantine tank would have zero nitrates, but I have verified that. Anyways, he started going down to the bottom of the tank and laying on his side, and then he would come up as if nothing had happened. He would come up to eat when I fed him, but he didn't actually eat much, he just came up to the surface. Now he is at the bottom of the tank and is going back and forth between resting on his stomach and laying on his side. He seems to be breathing heavily and he is not coming up at all beyond an inch or so from the bottom, if even that. He is having a hard time moving, he is kind of jerking along if he wants to move. He recently came up when I tried to feed him, but he started freaking out and he seems like he seized for a second. That was the last time he came off the bottom. I am really worried about him and tried to put some food right next to him on the bottom. He eats pellets and flakes, and was eating fine for the past 2 years. No other fish is in the tank with him, and no equipment that would come in contact with another fishes disease is in use.
I have a heater and a bakpak running, and one piece of liverock from the main tank to make sure there is enough biofiltration. The salinity was at 1.026 before, but I figured lowering it might lower his stress and help him breath.
Is there anything I can do? or is he going to die? I really want him to make it into the new, overhauled tank, but it doesn't seem like that might happen :sad1:
