hope so. would suck to get a clam and have it die the next week :\

But I wouldn't buy it if it's less than 2". And, try to get it from your LFS rather than online.

Yeah, but if it's been at the LFS doing okay for a couple of weeks you've probably got a better chance at success.

Keep checking your lfs, and ask them about it, they may be able to order you a clam specially from ORA or other suppliers.

ive asked and neither of them are setup with ORA or even care to. theyre setup with these weird random companies. one lfs, petland, has bad prices tank full of diseased fish and the clams theyve had arent good at all... the other lfs said that whatever they get in shipment when they order is what you get and dont promise anything, so you never know what it will be like

id rather pay for something i can see and at least have some sort of warranty

well, the other lfs mysteriously has a maxima clam that's purple and has had it for 3 weeks. said its 3 inches. ive been by his place and never seen a clam.. his tanks cant even support clams, so i found it odd. 45 dollars.. what do you guys think? fair?

May be beginner's luck, but I bought 2 aquacultured Tridacna maxima ~3/4" (2 cm), both survived, around one year now. Not in the best conditions: 10g tank, 70W PC +sunlight, but tank was well fed.

so far mine(2in aquaculture maxima) has been very good to me. good mantle extensions, reacts to any shading of the lights and is attached to my LR. Then again i've only had it for 1 week so we'll have to wait and see how it fairs a few months from now.

tank is fed once a day consisting of mussle, krill and mysis(all frozen). lighting is 150watt sunpod hqi, flowrate of 1300gph in a 15gh. clam has no direct flow.

the clam i saw at the lfs ended up being a small crocea that was doing poorly.. didnt react well to anything and has most of its zoox gone.

i did however find a leopard maxima that's 4"
