Is it ick?

Recently we installed a new lighting system in our tank and all the fish hid away for a couple of days but they are now adjusting…except for my Royal Gramma. I didn't think to much of this because it was a shy fish to begin with, that is until I saw it for the first time in a few days.

It had white patches on it and I noticed that it was rubbing up against the rocks. When i researched this it seems to point towards ick. However the pics I've seen online for ick all look like white dots not patches so now I'm not sure.

Can anyone help me with this please?

I have also noticed this on my gramma , maybe a coincidence but I did notice his back fin was picked at a bit so I assume he is getting into a figh with another fish. Keeps eating and has been like that for a few weeks now. I do agree as Ich is mostly spots and you would see some inflamation of the gills so I ruled out as it was a patch. if he keeps eating and gills are OK i would rule ich out.

I can't post a pic because it won't come out of hiding. It came out briefly today probably because it got to hungry but if i get the chance i will post a pic. From what I've read it says it could also be stress and this may well be the case because we recently added a new lighting system and vacuumed the substrate for the first time since its been in the tank. Ever since that day its been hiding away. I also notice that it was rubbing itself up against the rocks. Some websites say this behavior is ick and others say its stress related. I don't know what to think…or do.

His gills look fine and so far my fish have all got along. Thanks for replying it helps to know I'm not the only one. Im starting to think its more stress related because of how much maintenance we have had to do to the tank this past week has probably put it over the edge. We are going to leave it alone for a while now so they can all settle down again.
