Is it okay to hypo with live sand?

I have a fish in my qt, which was converted back to a qt in that I removed all live rock and inverts. I need to hypo a pb tang that's in there and lowered the salinity to 1.018. If I keep lowering the salinity down to 1.009 do you think the live sand will cause any problems? The reason I ask is that to remove this sand would be stressful for the fish and be very difficult, and the bio filter is quite a while established. There is no visible ich yet, but I need to hypo her just in case.

Thanks.

It the "live sand" contains pods and the std infauna that comes with a mature tank then some of that life may die off and create water quality issues. Keep a close eye on ammonia and prepare a large batch of replacement water now just in case you have to resort to water changes to maintain water quality.
