You can definitely mix different strains. Or even different species for that matter - though that is a bit harder, as you may have to consider issues with compatibility (specifically in terms of aggression, as some species are naturally more aggressive than others). You can even mix different species from different genera (such as mixing something from the Premnas genus with something from the Amphiprion genus).
Just make sure you follow the general rules of thumb when it comes to Clowns. Generally only a pair would work, more will fight to the death, etc. etc.
I think they should be fine as long as they are not physically deformed like bent spines/missing or misshapen fins, blunt faces and other things I've noticed some have. Those would be considered real 'culls' and not just a fish with a different color pattern over the wild type.
