Is it possible to de-brown a Acan?

So I picked up an Acan frag from my LFS today and thought I was getting a great deal (8+ heads for $10). Under their lights it looked purple-ish with blue stripes and a red center but when I got it home it looks UPS brown with pale blue stripes.

Should I be looking to place the coral in a partially shaded area or higher in the tank toward the lights?

I have another acan that is happy as can be and has grown at a crazy rate just sitting on the bottom of the tank but coloration isn't an issue with that one.

Perhaps its the difference in lighting. Unless corals are under the same lights in both places, its likely they never look the same when you get them home. LEDS do seem to help bring out more color IMO.

Yeah, I have LEDs and they were under 50/50 T5's at the LFS. Most of the time I get them home and they look better than they did at the store like the other corals I brought home today. So this left me scratching my head a little.

a simple rule i go by is that to never expect a coral to look the same as it did at the store lol. i know that my acans looked discolored on the first few days but regained color after some feedings and good placement. another tip is to speak to them and ask them to color up quickly. shhhhhh I'm weird like that :)
