hi, is it possible to get coralline algae in just 3 months . I set this tank up June 3rd. it went through a rather short diatom bloom maybe a week and a half. I used dry rock and live rock ,with live sand. 2 inch fine sand then 2inch coarse on top I did use 5 lbs. or so from my 47 gl. cube. I'm assuming that is where the coralline is starting from. there is a little green algae starting also with a nice blue -purple mostly on one side of the tank. I was just not ready for that to happen so quickly. It is growing on the dry rock pieces more than anything.

Is it hard to scrape off or will it brush off easily? From the color you describe and the age of your tank I would suspect cyanobacteria instead.

When I moved my tank, I had half Coraline encrusted Reef saver and added 50% more Reef saver and I have a little purple coming in at just 4 months. I don't have anything competing for calcium really.
