Is it safe to climb inside 300g acrylic tank?

I just bought a used 300g acrylic set up. 8ft x 24 x 31 tall. I didn't realized how big and challenging it would be to set it up. So far I have cleaned the upper portion of the tank where I can reach. I am still trying to figure out how to clean the bottom portion. One way is to climb inside the tank to do the cleaning and setting up the aquascaping. this is an acrylic tank made by Tenecor. I am wondering if the 300g acrylic tank can support a person crawling aound it without any water. This is assuming I can suck in my beer belly to get inside the opening.

How do you setup and maintain your big tank?

you can put you ,your buddies, and a keg in there with no problems. just make sure you can get back out.

by the way the water and live rock in that beast will weigh at least a ton and a half. make sure your floor can support all that weight.

have fun and good luck.

Oh. I also read about the dawn scrubbing brush - it's battery opperated and will take off coraline and such. I was thinking about connecting it to a pvc pipe to reach the bottom.

I just spent 4 hours inside my new (to me) 450 gallon tank buffing out scratches, so I think you would be fine

Only 4 hours in side the tank?:D I will give that a try. I spent 2 days reaching into the tank walls from the outside with a Novus polisher #2 and a buffing hand held machine. I think my right arm is a bit longer than the left arm from doing the buffing for the last 2 days.

Just make sure that the stand provides complete support of the tank otherwise having all your weight in one unsuported section of the tank may cause some problems, since you probably only have a 1/2" or 5/8th's bottom on that tank.

that is a big tank.. i love it but damn the maintenence. and that is a great spot for your tank.looks like it was made for it.

Thanks for the advice Z28pwr. I will try to keeping my body weight around the edges where the support beams are.

bpatrol - It sure look like this spot is meant for this big tank. I had to give up alot of other things to get this space ( Wife wants the space for her dinning room set, but she is willing to give it up if I am willing to give up all the tanks in the basement.)

As far as maintenance, I am hoping having a bigger tank will require less maintenance. If I can control my self not to put too much live stocks in it.:D

nice tank.. and please shore up the foundation under the tank.. that is a lot of weight...

when I got my tank... I ended up going for a bath init trying to do plumbing and check for leaks.... 6x3x3.... thought about adding a couple of pumps and setting up a whirl pool....

You had to give up ALL the tanks in your basement. i feel sorry for you lol. well good luck on this monster!!! And yes definitely more pics when it is up and running! i love the spot also, it is a beautiful location!
Have FUN!!,
