Is mixing additives together for dosing ok?

I was just wondering if there would be a problem if I was to mix Strontium/Molybdeum/Iodine in proper portions into a 2gallon hopper and connect that to a dosing pump and have it drip continously. Im just worried that mixing all 3 additives would cause a reaction between them. I know they sell Stron/Moly already premixed but if I was to add Iodine??This will cut down on my maintenance list.

There can be problems mixing additives. The answer depends on exactly what you are mixing (that is, knowing the other ions present, what forms those compounds take, etc). Those 3 may be Ok together. In general, substantially diluting iodide additives and allowing air exposure can allow them being oxidized to iodate.

As an aside, I do not recommend adding any of those anyway, since I do not believe them to be useful except in certain unusual circumstances, but that's not what you asked. :D I discuss that here:

Hey Randy
Thanks for the info and much thanks for all the time your dedicating to help our knowledge. Im just doing these 3 additives because I bought like 200lb of ultrapremium fiji rock and this is what the supplier recommended to use.

The supplier is also looking for more Sales sales sales, which would be supplying you w/ supplements. I think thats what randy's getting at.

In randy we trust.

That should have been a top 10 acronyms that don't exist. IRWT

I agree with Randy-Holmes completly. (I'm only threw the first 2 parts of 4). I just panic I wouldnt want to lose my large investment. The supplier only gave me a small sample pack and I was on my way to buy larger bulk but decided to ask first. Again thanks Randy for opening my eyes I'm now a believer.

I also agree but never ever dose Calcium and Alkalinity at the same time, you might get a nasty percepitation. Always dose calcium and alk at least 20 minutes apart

although it is more work dosing things individually is generally a better strategy. this strategy gives you better control over what you are putting in so that you can get the parameters that you want. eg, if you want to raise your calcium level then you add calcium until you get the level you want. try to avoid all in one products or mixing stuff together because you may end up over dosing one thing and under dosing something else.
