Is my acropora toast?

Over the passed few days it has continually gotten whiter. Does this mean it's dying? And that little stringy thing is coming out of the top of it (it's not debris)

yes its a goner only hope is if it stops on the last branch, or you could frag a branch. as far the tentacle thing I don't know.

Looks like it, that's what's referred to as STN. You're best action is what was already suggested, frag off a branch which hasn't STN'd yet and hope that it re-grows. That said, I have had corals STN down to a little piece, then grow back from the dead. But I've had far better luck fragging off a piece.

yeah that looks like it is almost dead, did you acclimate the frag starting in a low light area than slowly move up the tank to get more light.

Yeh your best bet is to frag the good bits even the smallest pice can survive if conditions are right!happened to me with a pice i have snipped of the STN and set the remaining frags on my rock an hey presto!
