This is my BTA not sure what kind exactly, but my real question is why is he all scrunched like this? He placed himself on this rock the night i got him, he seems to sprawl all out during the night and during the day just scrunch like this? Is this normal, does he look happy.

I am still learning about saltwater so please bare with my lack of knowledge :lol2:

yes it looks fine to me aswell , you will notice if the anemone starts to move itself , you will know there is a problem. also it can shrink to about the size of a toonie , if it stays like the for a day its fine but any longer then that and you should start to get worried.

Doesn't look awful, but I wouldn't say that that is completely normal.

What size tank?
How long has it been set up?
What lights?
What are your water parameters? (( with numbers ))
Is there anything near it that could be stinging it?

My tank has been up for 6 months, Not sure on the parameters, (i left my kit at my mothers). I have a 12g JBJ Nano Cube Deluxe. My lighting is: i have two, Half 10k Day light/ half 7100k Actinic Blue.

I think it would be happier in a hole or crevis but I wouldn't manually move it to get it there. It will do that on it's own.

More like this.... keeping in mind I don't advocate that size clown for that small an anemone.

OK, i tried to move a rock right next to him, and see if he would place himself between the two. It was a lot harder said then done, seeing my clown fish kept nipping at me. Which is not pleasant let me tell ya.

That lighting is not enough for the needs of a BTA as it requires brighter light for long term success with it.

I read, that my lighting would work considering how shallow my tank is?:hmm2:

They really thrive better under T5, MHs or even VHOs. The lighting in a small Nano like that isn't sufficient for it to live well for long periods of time. 48 watts of CF lighting if its a stock 12g JBJ isn't really going to promote good health. Not to mention they get really large and that size tank will be too small for it if it does live very long. I have 2 that are up to 10" in circumference now when spread out in my 210g.

Here is a link for great tips on them from someone that has a pretty informative site

YEah i love that site. i dont plan on keeping it in this tank long. I am setting up a 55g as we speak so hopefully in the next 6 ta 7 months i can transfer it over to that tank, and it will have a lot better lighting.. SO long term it wont be in my 12g.. this is just temp
