Is my BTA splitting, expelling or dying??

Hi All!

I have a black widow BTA that just deflated and expelled what I believe is zooxanthellae based off some web-research I did earlier. I increased my lighting a bit, which is why I believe the zooxanthellae is being expelled. The anemone has maintained its coloring but has completely deflated and its mouth is wide open, so much so that I can see the live rock underneath. Ill try to post a photo and video.

Any idea what's going on? Is this a sign of inevitable death and should I remove it??

I just picked up a RBTA yesterday. When I got it in the tank, it decided it wanted to latch on near the bottom. I am concerned about the lighting and eventually it following the cycle you described. I will be following this thread to see what the community says. Best of luck with your BTA.

Others know much more than me but they are quite mobile and will move to where they feel it's best. Mine went and hung upside down under rock and I had the same concern (he was bleached when I got him). He has recovered and is flourishing so I wouldn't be worried. I do feed him some shrimp once a week since my clowns haven't hosted yet. Good luck.

I hope its doing well! I'm sure yours will move until it finds its happy place. I found that mine keep deflating after feedings because they're expelling the waste. I have been feeding a lot to promote splitting, which just happened finally! Good luck with yours as well!
