Is my clam doing OK?

I was l;ooking at my clam today and noticed it turned about 90 degrees from where I Placed it. I also noticed that its mantle seems to be really extended. It hangs out of the shell an inch or so.

I often se pics of clams where the mantle is barley outside the boundries of the actuall shell. Is this clam over extended?

hard to tell from that angle but i would say no, its fine. i can also see new shell growth

How long have you had it? If you got it relativly recently it may have just started to acclimate so its extension has increased. Usually they aren't doing so well when they are not entended enough. It may have been hit by a fish or just moved with its own energy asfar as the movement goes. I wouldn't worry about it.

the amount of extension depends on the type of clam. that looks like a crocea and the mantle extension is normal for that species. as mbbuna said a top down pic may help show it better.
