is my crocea ok?

This is the bottom of my crocea. He's been in my tank about 2 years, attached to a rock buried under the sand. The past week or so he's unattached himself and laying on his side, but his mantles stay fully extended. I picked him up and moved him back to his rock several times, and he always moves away.

A few days ago, I looked at his foot and this is what I saw. It looks split, and there's a hole! Is this normal?!?!?

PS: Nothing is around him that could be stinging, and I haven't had any changes or additions to the tank in several months.

thats the byssal opening, every clam has one. it normal

sounds like he's asking you to move him


maybe something has changed, try moving him to another spot see how he likes it.
