Is my fish crazy?

Hello everyone,

After 4 months I finally got a fish for my 15g L reef. It is a juvenile mis-barred captive bred Ocellaris clown. I put it in my tank roughly 5 hours ago (I know I didn't quaranteen) and the whole time it has been almost up against the front of the tank swimming back and forth the whole time. Is this normal behavior?

I am 100% sure the size of the tank is not the issue. For starters the tank is 24 times the length of the fish. Not to mention it was both reared and kept in tanks smaller than the current one. Also the hosting behavior of clown fishes makes them ideal for smaller enclosures due to the limited distance they travel away from the hosted anemone. This is not a tang, or a wrasse that likes to swim large distances along a reef. So while all of your opinions are appreciated, I would rather not have this turn into a nano-bashing thread.

its normal its in a new enviroment, just checkin things out.. it was probably in the tank at the store with other clowns and may be wondering why he is all alone now..lol..i have a few different clown pairs(different tanks) and they choose something, host it and primarily dont swim too much from it.. thats why some* species*(not all) are great for smaller tanks..IMO your tank size is fine for a ocellaris..

Give it a little time. Overnight.
