What do you guys think. I have had him for 6-7 weeks. Maybe more.

Youre just showing off !;) It certainly looks good and if youve had it for that long chances are its going to be with you for a long time ! Congratulations !

In my experience and bear in mind that ive only ever kept the one,the mouth should be closed most of the time. However, when I bought mine it did take approximately two months give or take before I was finally happy that it had settled in. During this time the mouth was sometimes open sometimes closed. Now it is mostly closed but does occasionally remain open for an hour or two. It feeds and has grown so I'm not unduly worried.

Purple, feeding and youve had it 6-7 weeks ! Sounding better all the time ! Just out of curiosity, what lighting and flow do you have ?

I only have 2 maxi on a red sea. Every time i increase the flow he moves a little so I just leave it alone.

Interesting. I originally had 2x Tunze stream 6000 ( 14,000 litres per hour total ) on my tank but upgraded one to a 6100 to give me 19,000 lph because the gigantea was gaping, contracting and expanding, etc. Within an hour of adding the extra flow it perked up and has been behaving normally since. That's a fair amount of light - 650 Watts - on a 75g. :eek1:

cook, that's all the flow you have? I am sure its health would improve even more if you were to increase the flow. Trust me, Giganteas can handle more than you would expect.

Like 55 said, flow flow flow, you can add as much as you want, the anemone will love it.

I wouldn't worry about the mouth too much. If you've had it 7 weeks that's the better indicator. The ones that aren't healthy don't make it to 4 weeks.

It also depends, I mean what exactly does "open" mean? Because mine (one for 3 years, one for 2), don't exactly have their mouths exactly tightly shut all the time. They're still more or less closed, but there's a relaxed look to it (if that makes any sense). But by constrast, hanging wide wide open, ie. with the inside bits coming out, is only normal on mine when they're feeding or pooping.

I'm jealous BTW, I'd give my eyeteeth to find one that colour. Very nice anemone and I wish you the best of luck with it!! :)
