Is my hairy mushroom splitting?

Please tell me this is perfectly normal behavior. I walked past my tank and this is what I see, a big hole in the middle of my hairy mushroom:eek2: . Is it just splitting? The hole is right where the mouth was, about the size of a dime already. Thanks.
