Im not sure what the difference between a leather toadstool and just a leather coral is. But a Leather coral will keep grwing from the part that is ripped. If your leather has a stalk that could be a problem but as far as I know a ripped leather coral will keep growing out.

Should heal and at the end of the day you should end up with 2 toadstools.
Just make sure there is sufficient flow and water movement around the pieces.
You dont want water dead spots forming and the tissue being attached by bacteria.

You will soon owe your GF an apology !

Oh mushroom toadstool. Ok if the toadstool has most of its "foot" left it will have a really good chance of survival. BUT if most of the "foot" is torn off it could be permanently damaged, and could die. But in most cases even if the stalk is damaged you can put the specimen on a piece of liverock and the mushrooms stalk will grab onto and bind to the rock at which point it will continue growing. It may take a couple days to stick back to the rock. I WOULD NOT put it in the sand, the mushroom will need something firm to cling to.

And Africa is correct, you will end up with two toadstools. So don't fret, and don't get too upset with your GF over an object.

Sounds like your gf was just fragging it for you. You should thank her, you'll likely end up with two corals for the price of one...

Put him on a sturdy piece of live rock so he can attach. It's not the best idea to let corals attach to sand, they can get blown in the current and knocked over by fish.

You still appear stressed, dont worry abou it you'll be ok. Im sure this happens in the ocean all the time,ye there is still a whole reef there.
