Is my mantis molting?

I have had an N. curacaoensis for several months in my 12 gallon nanocube. 2 days ago, he sealed both entrances to his prefered cave in the LR with bits of rubble, presumably with him inside it. Would this indicate he is molting, or has molted, or something else? I have not seen a molt floating around in the tank.

It could be in there for 2-3 weeks if it is molting so don't do anything. No water changes until you see it and don't touch anything in the tank. Stability during this time is key.

Thanks, will do. So, that's what's going on? He's molting? I just didn't want to worry over nothing. I've become quite attached to the little guy.

More than likey he is molting...like pea-brain said, dont do any water changes or bother any landscaping at all. My mantis just finished a 16day molt and I got very concerned towards the end, but everything worked out fine!

You more than likely wont see his molt; they use them to feed off of while "locked up". When he comes out in a few days (weeks) you might find it and want to remove it then!

You can always test your water params (mainly ammonia) to kind of determine what is happening....you should see s slight spike in ammonia, anything major might mean your mantis didnt make it! I waited 10 days before I even tested though.
