I have a cube tank ( I believe 65g?). Its been up for several months (8 or so). Stock 2 firefish, 1 occ. clown, 1 small coral beauty. 2 cleaner shrimp, 1 fire shrimp, serpent star, 3-4 hermits, 1 featherduster.
corals: 1 toadstool 2-3 inches, 1 marshall island hammer coral 2-3 inches, and I just added a small rock of green and orange polyps about 10 days ago. The toadstool has a small finger leather with it, they came together on the same piece. The toadstool is in the front left of the tank on the sandbed, the hammer is up on the rock (middle) on the opposite side of the tank. I placed the polyp rock on the sand in the middle of the tank.
I use RODI and change 10% per week. I have an emperor 400 power filter, that I use for mechanical filtration, and add polyfilter to. 3 different powerheads for medium flow in the tank. Light is aquaticlife 4T5's I believe, 3 ATI blue plus and a coral plus.
Everything was going fine until a week ago a couple days after adding the polyps. The tank has been cloudy as hell. First thing I think is OMG, Ammonia spike! Nothing. The water quality has been fine. 0 amm, 0 nitrite, 5 nitrate.
I start reading and all this allelopathy stuff starts popping up. Is it possible that when I put the polyp rock in about 5" away from the Toadstool/finger leather is started secreting? Its like a milky white cloud in the tank. Ive been changing water every other day 10%, and when I wake up its like I didnt even change anything.
