Is my yellow tang OK?

My yellow tang has had that 1 bacterial infection where they have redish blotches on them. He seems to be keeping it. Eats like a pig and everything yet, just getting to be wierd looking with the blotches on him. Any idea how long they keep it for? A common thing people say to do is water change; it did not work.
