Is occasional scratching body a concern?

Two of my fish like Kole tang and long nose hawfish would occasionally scratch their body or face on sand or hard surface. Occasional refers to sometimes i see them scratch themselves a few times in one day and some days i don't see them scratch at all.
These two fish are new less than one month in my DT but have been in quarantine tank for two months. I didn't treat them with any medication during quarantine time because they have had no visual disease or disease related behavior. Apart from these occasional scratching they have no visual sign of white spots or velvet, breathing is normal. They are eating and healthy body colour. All my other fish are fine too but no scratching that i have observed. Should i be concerned about their occasional scratching? Is it normal?

After 3 months you can rule out the common parasites/diseases of brook and velvet. However you could be dealing with flukes or possibly even Ich. To answer your question, yes, fish can scratch for no reason. I've had a goby for years and he occasionally scratches on the sand but he is the only one. I went to great lengths to make sure he was parasite free. But given these are new fish I would rule out parasites first.
Were they scratching in the qt?

Very rarely in QT. May be a few times in 2 months period. Last time i saw long nose hawfish scratched itself was 3 days ago and for kole tang was 5 days ago. No head twitching nor darting hence i haven't taken any action yet.

The concerning part is they are both new fish and are both scratching. At this point you could watch them and see if it continues then treat accordingly. Also keep an eye on the other fish to see if they begin scratching.
