Is rubber saltwater safe?

Is it safe to have rubber in contact with reef water? I'd like to experiment with sound control sheeting in my skimmer.

I have rubber tubing going into my Fuge have yet to find anything quiter.

Define "rubber." Many products are referred to as rubber, up to and including the natural product made of latex tree sap.

Yup, trying to quiet my Remora.

I can't tell what rubber it is exactly, my best guess would be the same as tires (urethane?).

My plan didn't work anyhow, so far the paper towel trick is the most effective (although it wears off after a week and elevates the collection cup).

Are you trying to quiet the water coming out of the spray jet, or the water flowing out of the skimmer back into the tank???

The spray jet, I have no problem with the water coming out to the tank.

I dont think you can do anything but make a leather cover for the top part of the skimmer. I have a Remora and it doesnt seem loud, but i dont have it in the bedroom.
